提出一种基于双偏振正交相移键控(DP-QPSK)调制器的可变对称三角脉冲信号生成方案。通过调节DP-QPSK调制器两个子调制器的调制系数和三个电移相器的相移,可生成对称系数可调谐的三角脉冲信号,对称系数可调谐的范围为0%~100%,生成的三角脉冲信号的重复率等于输入驱动信号频率的两倍,即用较低频率的驱动信号即可生成高重复率的可变对称三角脉冲信号。通过仿真验证了提出方案的可行性,利用均方根误差(RMSE)评估了该方案生成脉冲波形与理想波形的相似度。除三角脉冲信号外,同时验证了该方案还可生成方形脉冲信号。

提出并研究了一种基于保偏光纤双折射特性的函数波形信号发生器。发生器采用正弦微波信号调制连续光波,光波经45°偏振控制后耦合进入保偏光纤,利用光纤双折射特性在快慢轴两个正交光场分量间引入可控时延差,经光电检测后的光电流表达式可由傅里叶级数余弦谐波项构成,结合宽带90°电桥亦可获得傅里叶级数正弦谐波项构成,因此模型具备可调谐函数波形输出特性。分析结果表明,通过控制发生器三个变量,即偏压相移φ、调制系数β和时延差τ,可对傅里叶级数各谐波系数进行灵活调控。分析并讨论了各变量之间的关系,利用光学仿真验证了方案的可行性。当限定均方根误差(RMSE)≤5%,可获得0~30%可调顶边梯形波和20%~80%可调对称三角波。

A kind of tapered segmented cladding fiber (T-SCF) with large mode area (LMA) is proposed, and the mode and amplification characteristics of T-SCFs with concave, linear, and convex tapered structures are investigated based on finite-element method (FEM) and few-mode steady-state rate equation. Simulation results indicate that the concave tapered structure can introduce high loss for high-order modes (HOMs) that is advantageous to achieve single-mode operation, whereas the convex tapered structure provides large effective mode area that can help to mitigate nonlinear effects. Meanwhile, the small-to-large amplification scheme shows further advantages on stripping off HOMs, and the large-to-small amplification scheme decreases the heat load density induced by the high-power pump. Moreover, single-mode propagation performance, effective mode area, and heat load density of the T-SCF are superior to those of tapered step index fiber (T-SIF). These theoretical model and numerical results can provide instructive suggestions for designing high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers.

A scheme of triangular-shaped pulses with full duty cycle generation is proposed and analyzed. Benefiting from the feature of orthogonal polarization, two approximate sinusoidal signals on different polarization states can be combined without inducing coherent interference. By tuning the time mismatching between the two signals, an approximately triangular-shaped profile can be obtained in the optical intensity. It is found that the modulation index β is no longer a fixed one, but it can be aligned within a proper range of 0.92 to 1.57. To evaluate the proposal, impacts of radio frequency voltage fluctuation, bias voltage drift, and time mismatching are discussed. Within the defined fitting error (η3%), the tolerable range of the modulation index, time mismatching, and voltage have been found, which insures a simple operation in practice.
